Train Rides – Hours
Hours may vary due to weather, maintenance, or special events. We sometimes must change equipment from what’s posted here due to maintenance or other challenges. If weather is too wet or too hot, we will not operate. The Final Ride of the day happens at 1:45pm on both Saturday and Sunday operational dates.

Planning a Birthday Party or Group Event? Check with Old Poway Park staff* to reserve your space in the park. On day of the party/event, purchase your estimated number of train ride tickets at the Ticket Office inside our Train Depot; we’ll refund any unused. Then, speak with the Station Agent once we are operating that day. They will coordinate your group’s Train Ride (up to 30 riders on Cable Car or Speeder; 65 riders on Locomotive trains).
IMPORTANT: Please have all party/event riders line up in the loading queue when ready to board.
IMPORTANT: On Saturdays, Group Rides provided only after 12:00pm, on through Last Ride at 1:45pm.
On Sundays-Group Rides are available during our entire shift, usually 11am to 1:45pm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy tickets in advance?
No, tickets are only available at the depot on ride days (no online sales), you can purchase for future operating dates.
Are the train rides wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our steam train’s first coach is wheelchair accessible. The cable car and speeder may have accessibility limitations. Please contact us for details.
Can I bring food and drinks?
Food and drinks are allowed in the park but not on the train.
How long is the ride?
A typical train ride lasts about 10-15 minutes.
Are pets allowed on the train?
Pets are allowed on the trains at the discretion of the Station Agent
Are strollers allowed on the train?
No, there’s not sufficient room on coaches, ore cars, nor our Cable Car for strollers, but baby carriers are always OK. Please park your stroller in the designated area; your Station Agent can help.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Rides may be canceled due to rain or extreme heat. Check our calendar for updates.
